How is a correction checked?
Every fact on Petym has a source and a date. A correction goes back to the source.
You write in
Tell Petym the page, the sentence and why you think it is wrong. A link to an official page or a document helps most.
Petym reads the source again
The cited source is opened again, and any source you sent is read. For laws and fees, that means the Act, the rules, the gazette or the government page. For health, the veterinary body.
If the page is wrong
The sentence is corrected, the source updated if needed, and the page's checked date changes to the day of the fix.
If the sources disagree
The page says so, and sets out who says what, instead of picking one quietly.
If the page is right
Petym replies with the source it relies on, so you can check it yourself.
What should a good message include?
A few details save a round of back and forth.
- Your city, because Petym opens city by city.
- For owners: your dates, how many pets, their species and age, and anything special such as medicines.
- For sitters: the services you would offer and whether you would host pets at home.
- For corrections: the full page address and the exact sentence.
- Nothing sensitive you do not need to send: no PAN, bank details or passwords by email.
When will you hear back?
A person reads every message and replies. Petym does not promise a set response time while it is pre-launch.
Messages are answered in the order they arrive. Corrections can take longer when a source has to be checked again, and Petym would rather reply late with the right answer than quickly with a guess.
If your message is about a pet that is ill or hurt, do not wait for a reply: go to a vet straight away. Petym's city pages list 24-hour vets in each launch city.
