What is Petym?
A marketplace that matches pet owners with checked local sitters, opening one Indian city at a time.
Petym is built for the way pets live in Indian cities: in flats and housing societies, through hot summers, long monsoons, power cuts and festival fireworks. Its main service is pet boarding in a checked sitter's home: your pet lives in a real home with a limit on other pets, keeps its own food and routine, and is never left in a kennel row. For pets who are happier at home, a sitter can stay at yours instead.
Around that sit five more services: drop-in visits for cats and calm dogs, dog walking, pet boarding in the sitter's home, doggy day care, and special-needs care for pets on medicines, seniors and pets recovering from surgery. A pet shop follows later.
Sitters are paid by the day, per visit or per walk. Owners book and pay through Petym, and the sitter is paid after the booking.
Petym is for two groups of people. Owners who travel for work, family weddings, festivals or holidays and want their dog or cat cared for at home or in a checked home nearby. And people who are good with animals and want to earn by caring for them in their own city, as sitters, after passing Petym's checks.
Why does Petym exist?
Because leaving a pet behind in an Indian city is harder than it should be.
Most owners know the choices. A relative who is busy, a neighbour who forgets the second meal, a kennel your dog has never seen, or a sitter found through a friend of a friend with no way to know who they are. For many pets, especially older dogs, cats and rescued Indies, a strange place is the hardest part of their owner being away.
Petym's answer is a sitter who comes to your home, or a checked home that takes a small number of pets, with the same plain process every time: a free meeting first, a written care plan, a photo every day, payment through Petym and a 24-hour vet decided in advance. Nothing in that list is new. What is new is doing every part of it, every time, and saying plainly what is and is not checked.
The care rules come from published welfare guidance. PDSA's five welfare needs, a suitable environment, a suitable diet, normal behaviour, the right company and protection from pain and disease, are the frame every booking is built on.

Petym publishes a lot of information before it takes a single booking. These are the rules it is written to.

- Railway and airline rules, city licences, vets and care advice each link to the page they came from, with the date Petym checked it.
- Health facts from veterinary bodies
- Vaccines, ticks, heatstroke, toxic foods and medicines are taken from veterinary and welfare bodies such as WSAVA, the Merck Veterinary Manual, AWBI, RSPCA and PDSA, and vet schools. Petym never gives a dose.
- No invented reviews
- No reviews, ratings, testimonials, badges or host counts until there are real bookings and real sitters behind them.
- What is not known is said
- Where an official page is silent, or two sources disagree, the page says so instead of guessing.
