Travel and moving: questions Indian pet owners ask
Updated By Petym
Trains, flights, cabs, road trips, moving city and taking a pet abroad.
Each answer starts with the short version, then explains it with the sources behind every fact and the date they were checked. Where a guide or tool goes deeper, the answer links to it.

- Can I take my dog in an Uber, Ola or auto in India? Uber Pet takes one pet per ride where it runs; Ola and autos are up to the driver. Ask before you board.
- Is flying in cargo safe for my dog? Usually, for a healthy dog on a cool, direct flight. Snub-nosed breeds and Indian summers raise the risk.
- How long can a dog stay in a parked car? No length of time is safe on a warm day: a parked car heats up within minutes, windows open or not.
- Is there quarantine for pets coming to India? Not for a healthy pet with the right papers. Only a pet that fails the airport check gets 15 days.
- Should I sedate my dog or cat for travel? Not for a flight: IATA and vets advise against it and Indian airlines refuse sedated pets. What helps instead.
