- Can I keep my cat while I am pregnant? Yes. Let someone else clean the litter, feed the cat cooked food, and take care with raw meat and soil.
- Can my pet pass diseases to my children? Yes, a few, mainly worms, ringworm and, from bites, rabies. Handwashing and a dewormed pet prevent most.
- Is my dog safe with a newborn baby? Most dogs can live safely with a baby, with preparation, calm introductions and constant supervision.
- How do I introduce my dog to our new baby? Greet the dog first, then a short, calm meeting on a loose lead, with treats and no forcing.
- How do I teach children to be safe around dogs and street dogs? Ask first, leave eating and sleeping dogs alone, stand like a tree, and tell an adult about any bite.
